Hi all, new here trying to diagnose a problem. 2012 Mazda3 Skyactiv 2.0L vin 7, bought brand new December 2012. Started running a little rough around 75k miles and dropping mileage. Changed plugs to NGK Iridiums around 80k miles. Mechanic told me that one plug was so shot, it was barely even sparking. Engine seemed to even out for a bit, then PURPOSE: when mazda designed and started manufacturing the skyactiv-g engine that is in all of our 3rd gen cars, they decided to use direct injection. as we all know, no fuel hits the back of the valves with this design. many manufacturers have had problems with buildup of carbon on the intake valves causing loss of power and fuel economy I’m thinking of changing my car, the Mazda 3 skyactiv 2.2 Diesel look good, and the specs sound good, but what are they like ? any like engine problems? 2012-2013 Mazda3 Misfire Issue. Equipped with SkyActiv engines. The problem: Misfire conditions may be found throughout the engine. This could be due to carbon deposits forming around the intake
Check all vacuum lines for cracking. Finally, it could be an intake leak. Broken manifold gasket will lean out the mixture. Easy to check. If you have welding equipment, spray some argon gas around the gaskets. If you have a leak the idle will slow down and become more steady.

You can get yourself into a Mazda3i Touring with the 155-horsepower 2.0-liter Skyactiv for $18,700, though our 3i Grand Touring with the same engine carried a more weighty $22,050 bottom line.
